. #13. I installed an unmodified 9" rear out of a 68 Cobra Jet Mustang into my 66 Fastback. The spring perches are a perfect fit. However, all 67->up 8" and 9" rears have a slightly larger tube dia at the spring perches than the 65/66 Mustangs. This means you need larger U-bolts (2 7/8") and spring/shock plates from a 67->up Mustang.
Manualfront disc brakes became optional during the '65 model year on V-8 cars and were included with the GT Equipment group. Also part of the GT package: heavyduty suspension and a 22:1 steering ratio— the Special Handling Package. "K-code" Mustangs, those ordered with the 271-hp engine also received the Special Handling Package.

6566 has better accent bits: side air ducts, the rear C pillar louvers, the arguably better front grill. That cross hair they went to in 67 with the bigger grill is a step back imo.
